Sacramento may not have a lot to offer when compared to places such as Orange County or Los Angeles, but it does have plenty of historical significance as the capital city of California. The Sacramento River runs through the heart of the city, and has scenic river walk trails for nature lovers. Sacramento is especially beautiful in the fall, as the trees change colors and gives the city a sense of vibrancy. There’s also the historic Old Sacramento District, as well as several museums for history lovers.
About two hours away from Sacramento, depending on which route you take, is San Francisco. And then, another two hours in the opposite direction is Lake Tahoe. Sacramento is a gateway to popular tourist destinations. You can still explore Golden Gate Park for a day, or take a dip at Lake Tahoe, without have to spend the extra money of renting a cabin or booking an expensive hotel room.
